This site is an informational tool. Its calculations and articles are general information only. They do not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account.
Not advice, not credit assistance
- It is not financial product advice, tax advice or legal advice.
- It is not credit assistance. It does not suggest that you apply for, or stay in, a particular lease, loan or credit contract with a particular lessor or lender, and it does not help you apply for one. The comparisons between a novated lease, a car loan and cash use generic structures and the numbers you enter, not any provider’s products.
- The publisher holds no Australian credit licence and no Australian financial services licence, is not a registered tax agent, and is not an authorised representative of anyone who does.
- The site names, rates and links to no lessor, lender, broker or salary-packaging provider, and receives no commission or other benefit from any of them. If that ever changed, the benefit would be disclosed next to the link, as the credit rules require for referrals.
Estimates
- Results are estimates based on the ATO’s published rates, thresholds and formulas, the Fringe Benefits Tax Assessment Act as it stands, and, where labelled, the Treasury exposure draft for 1 April 2027, as checked on the dates shown on each page.
- Rules labelled “proposed” are proposed, not yet law. Parliament may change them or not pass them.
- The model simplifies (whole FBT years, one tax year’s rates for the whole lease, no Medicare levy surcharge, no fees you have not entered). Your employer’s payroll, your financier’s contract and your notice of assessment are the figures that count.
- This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the ATO, Treasury, ASIC or any government body, employer or finance company.
Before signing a lease, check the quote line by line, ask your employer how the novation works (and what happens if you leave), and consider advice from a registered tax agent or a licensed adviser. The publisher accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of these estimates.
